Stockholm, Sweden - September 15, 2023.
This week, winners of the 2022 Queen Silvia Nursing Award from Sweden and Finland visited Stockholm. Sara Rosenberg, Mia Kuusisto, Karoliina Tiura, and Marie Svensson engaged with leading award partners in dementia care and research. This visit underscores the pivotal role of nurses in meeting the growing demands of dementia care.
"The Stockholm journey was a testament to our winners' outstanding contributions," says Sophie Lu-Axelsson, CEO of Swedish Care International and Board Member at Forum For Elderly Care, founding organizations of the Queen Silvia Nursing Award. "Dementia care and research is ever-evolving. These visits expose the winners to emerging treatments and developments, as well as innovative and dignified care strategies. We're not just recognizing their achievements; we're investing in their growth and the future global advancement of dementia awareness."
During their visit, the awardees connected with experts at Stiftelsen Silviahemmet, Socialstyrelsen, Bioarctic, and Attendo. These interactions foster international collaboration, promoting the exchange of ideas and best practices in dementia care.
The Queen Silvia Nursing Award is currently in its 10th year of accepting applications from nurse and nurse student talent who have ideas and innovations to elevate care quality for older people and people living with a dementia diagnosis.
